New energies

Conference in French

With global warming and the Ukrainian crisis, the question of access to low-carbon and renewable energy sources is as topical as ever, as are the means to transport them efficiently.
Many hopes are pinned on technological disruptions such as nuclear fusion, hydrogen or more efficient batteries.

In this didactic conference in line with the Web2day scientific conferences launched in 2014 (semiconductors, genomics, astronomy, quantum, transport of the future), Fanny Bouton and Olivier Ezratty are back to lift the veil on these different promises.

Why is the energy issue key?
Where do the various energy sources we depend on come from?
How are they interdependent?
What is a good energy mix?
Is nuclear fusion promising?
How far along is its development?
Who are the industrial players?
What about startups in the sector?
What about small modular nuclear reactors (SNR)?
How can conventional renewable energy sources (wind, solar, geothermal) be deployed on a large scale and how are they coupled with new energy storage means?
What is their life cycle?
How can we position innovative energy storage and transfer methods, such as new generation batteries, hydrogen or green fuels?
What about "quantum" batteries?
Will quantum technologies such as the quantum computer have a role to play in this?
