Festival Code of Conduct

All participants, speakers, partners and volunteers at our event must agree to the following code of conduct. We will endeavor to enforce this code during the event. We expect every participant to cooperate to ensure a healthy environment for all.

The fast version

Our festival is intended to be a harassment-free experience, regardless of your gender, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, weight, skin color, ethnicity or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Sexually explicit and degrading language and images are not appropriate at the event. This includes conferences, workshops, parties, Twitter and other online media. Participants who violate these rules may be sanctioned or excluded from the festival without refund, at the discretion of the event organizer.

The slower version

Harassment includes verbal comments about gender, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, weight, skin color, ethnicity, religion, explicit and degrading sexual images in public places, deliberate intimidation, stalking, pursuit, photographic or video harassment, continued disruption of conferences and other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwanted sexual advances.

Participants who are asked to stop any harassing behavior must stop immediately.

Partners are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, partners must not use sexual images or materials. They may also not engage in any sexually oriented activities. Booth staff (including volunteers) must not use sexually explicit clothing, uniforms or costumes. They must not create a sexualized environment.

If a participant engages in harassing behavior, we may take any action we deem appropriate. This can range from a simple warning to excluding the participant from the event without refund.

If you feel harassed, if you think someone is being harassed, and more generally if you have a problem, please contact a member of the event organization immediately. Members of the organization and volunteers are easily identifiable by their "Volunteer" t-shirts or their access badge.

Members of the organization will be happy to assist participants in contacting event security, law enforcement, providing an escort, and otherwise assisting victims of harassment to ensure their safety during the event.

We appreciate your participation in the event. We expect participants to follow these rules throughout the event and at all event locations, as well as during social events related to the event.
